Happy Monday, friends! Now that Thanksgiving is over, we’re in full Christmas-prep mode over here. After all, it’s the most wonderful time of the year…
— and the most expensive!
Some of the items that tend to be most expensive, aside from the gifts themselves, are the Christmas card printing services, gift tags, and gift wrap. These items are just temporary, so why pay an arm and a leg for them? This year, I went a more frugal route with my holiday printing by investing in a new photo printer from HP.
HP ENVY Photo 6252 All-in-One
To save a few bucks on your holiday printing, I highly recommend you invest in a quality photo printer. I’ve always been a huge fan of HP products, but was in need of a better photo printer, so I picked up an HP ENVY Photo 6252 All-in-One at Walmart for only $99.
This best-in-class photo printer ticked every box on my printer wishlist:
- Has WiFi capabilities
- Can print from my phone via Bluetooth
- Can print, copy, and scan
- Can scan directly to my email
- Easy to manage (thanks to the HP Smart App)
- Not too large – fits perfectly on my computer desk.
- Can print photos of all sizes (a huge must)
- Quite – This printer has a “quiet mode” which is great for printing early in the morning or late at night while the little ones are asleep.
Being that I’m not a huge fan of learning new technology (or the setup process of that new technology), I was quite impressed with this printer. In fact, I didn’t even open the included instruction booklet. Instead, I downloaded the HP Smart App and followed their short step-by-step setup instructions. I did have a little bit of trouble with the color ink cartridge (which is mostly my fault), but the printer asked me to remove it and reinstall it and it worked perfectly. Printable Gift Tags and Photo Ornaments
I’m a huge fan of unique gift wrap and gift tags and was super excited to get creative with my new HP printer.
This year, I’m going with a neutral wrapping paper theme under my Christmas tree, so I picked up a few varieties of “brown paper bag” wrapping paper, one with adorable deer heads on it, as well as some black and white checkered wrapping paper. My accent color is red, so I kept this in mind when creating my printable gift tags.

DIY Printable Ornaments
In the past, I have ordered photo ornament holiday cards from companies online. These tend to get extremely pricey, so I decided to take a crack at it myself. I made my own tassel using baker’s twine, and used wrapping paper and construction paper to create a unique card design. I simply printed a photo from one of our family vacations and used adhesive dots to stick it all together.
