My studio space (a.k.a. my office) is a dreamy bohemian slice of paradise, but boy can it get messy. Between the pampas grass, dried eucalyptus, and other random dried pieces of nature we have in there, the floor and rugs need constant cleaning.
Hoover Evolve Pet Vacuum
I recently picked up a cordless Hoover Evolve Pet vacuum from Amazon and it’s been the best vacuum for our studio space. (Thanks to Hoover for collaborating with me on this article)
This full powered, free standing vacuum weighs less than 9 pounds and is roomy enough to pick up 3X more dirt than similar vacuums. Plus it’s low profile and tucks nicely behind our decor.
The Hoover Evolve is promoted as a great pet vacuum because the brush roll and pet filter help prevent the growth of odor causing bacteria in your rugs and carpet. So, even though we may not have pets in our studio very often, it’s giving me peace of mind knowing it’s grabbing all those outside pollutants from our rugs and hard floors with it’s Power Vortex Suction.
Modern Bohemian Decor Inspiration
So many of you have asked where we find our furniture and decor pieces, so I did my best to link what I could for you. This office space has been a labor of love and it’s taken many months to acquire each and every piece.
One of my favorite things to do is mix textures and natural organic elements together when it comes to decor. As you have seen it some of my previous articles, I enjoy foraging for pampas grass, dried grasses, and even branches that have fallen off trees. Everything serves a purpose and can easily be interchangeable.
Wooden Details
Try mixing and matching wood tones, but try to keep the same grain with your woods. For example, pay attention to the wood grain on the legs of your couch, chairs, cupboards, cabinets, shelves, etc. Do the grains all look similar, but the colors are different? Totally fine! Just roll with it.
Metals
With our barn door, we chose to go more contemporary to give our studio a little bit of an edge. Most barn doors are wooden and just didn’t give us the vibe we were going for with this space. You’ll notice our door has a mixture of metal and wood and is truly a statement space.
You will also notice we added the statement door to a white simple area of the room.
Rattan
When I think of bohemian, I immediately think of rattan everything. Some people can get really carried away with rattan, but I prefer to mix it in with sturdier pieces.
Our rattan butterfly chair and rattan headboard are some of my favorite pieces in the studio. They are funky but also fit in well with the modern decor we have going on.
I may not be able to work in my studio as much as I’d like to these days, but it is a place that constantly inspires me. It’s a space I can rearrange to my heart’s content and make work for me.
When it comes to your own home decor and mixing modern and bohemian pieces, try to remember not to put so much pressure on yourself. Buy pieces that you love, try them together, and if they don’t work, return them.
I encourage you to experiment with different textures like metals and woods or furs and jute and find what works for you. And if you end up with a messy jute rug, flying pampas grass fronds, and a bunch of other messy elements, keep a battery-powered vacuum handy – like the Hoover Evolve (on sale right now on Amazon).
