Happy New Year, all! It’s about that time when many of us begin to write down our goals for the year, including our health and fitness resolutions. This year, my goal is to follow through on my resolutions of working out more consistently and eating better for every meal. If you are in the same boat, I’ve put together 5 great FAGE Total Greek yogurt bowls to help fuel your new year’s resolutions (and get you out of your snack time rut).
Eating better doesn’t have to mean following the latest fad diet. In fact, I absolutely despise diets and think that you can do so much good for your body by just eating more wholesome. Listen to your body when you eat. Eat when you’re hungry, eat until you’re full, and choose healthier options at meal time.
Don’t get me wrong. I still go for those cheeseburgers and fries every now and then, but I have been really trying to eat at home more, even if I’m feeling lazy.
I go through Greek yogurt phases and get really into it for a long time, but I like to have a little variety. Like anything else, moderation is key. I personally like my all natural FAGE Total plain Greek yogurt to be the 2% milkfat because it has a great creamy taste and texture.
5 Greek Yogurt Bowl Recipes
For all of these Greek yogurt bowl recipes, it’s important to go with something like FAGE Total 2% Plain Greek yogurt because it contains no added sugar, is rich in protein, Non-GMO Project Verified, and it’s made with only milk and live active yogurt cultures. These live cultures are so great for your gut health and pair perfectly with all of the ingredients I’ve listed below.
Chai Spice Greek Yogurt Bowl
You can easily make your own blend of chai spices, but you can also find the spices already ground and mixed for you. However you mix it, chai spices are excellent in a yogurt bowl. You can add a little honey to sweeten it up if you prefer along with a garnish of orange or tangerine peel.
Muddled Blueberry and Almond Yogurt Bowl
Blueberry yogurt is one of my favorites and for this recipe, you can add as many or as little blueberries as you’d like. You start by washing your blueberries in warm water. You then dry them and place them in the bottom of a glass. Squish the blueberries with a muddler or masher until they have all been flattened and ground down a little. Mix your muddled blueberries into your FAGE Total 2%, top with some fresh whole blueberries and sliced almonds for a healthy and refreshing snack. If you need a little more sweetness, you can add your favorite honey or agave.
Everything Bagel Yogurt Bowl
This savory Greek yogurt bowl recipe is my absolute favorite. I actually featured it in an article I did on my other blog last year and thought it was delicious enough to share it with you all, too. I love that it’s an “out of the norm” recipe in that it doesn’t contain the typical fruit and nuts like my other recipes. All you need is a jar of your favorite everything bagel seasoning, FAGE Total 2% Greek yogurt, and a toasted bagel. You can chop the bagel up into little crouton sizes or leave it whole and use it as a dipper. The creamy rich yogurt reminds me of cream cheese in this recipe. So delish!
Cacao Honey, Banana, and Chia Seed Yogurt Bowl
I recently found the most amazing honey that was flavored with cacao and even though it’s a superfood and is great for you, it reminds me of a healthier version of hot fudge that I can eat any time of day! This Greek yogurt bowl recipe is super easy. You simply lay a line of whole chia seeds down, a line of sliced bananas, and a line or your cacao honey. You can scoop a little bit of each flavor onto your spoon with each bite and it is such a great snacking combination that tastes great with yogurt.
Powdered Peanut Butter and Banana Yogurt Bowls
Peanut butter and bananas are such a great combo (just ask Elvis). Rather than dealing with the gooey mess of real peanut butter (plus the added sugar), I always keep this powdered peanut butter on hand. Combine that with really ripe, sweet bananas, and it’s the perfect breakfast or midday snack on Greek yogurt.
You can check your local grocery store for FAGE Greek yogurt and you can find it in multiple sizes including larger containers. These larger containers of yogurt are great for yogurt bowls, as long as you use it all up before the expiration date.
I hope some of these yogurt bowl recipes have inspired you to stick to your healthy eating New Year’s resolutions this year and have provided you with some new snack ideas. I’d love to hear about some new yogurt bowl recipes, so please feel free to leave me a comment with your ideas.
Happy snacking!
