Now that football season is upon us, I can’t help but get a little festive. I love to decorate for various occasions, but I don’t love to spend a ton of time on them. Today, I wanted to share my quick and easy football party ideas using a few inexpensive props and a fun officially licensed NFL cake from my local Safeway. This is super easy to recreate and the entire setup costs less than $50.
The Table Decor
Whether you’re throwing a home-gating party, or you are just having a football themed birthday party, using the cake as the focal point of the table is super easy. No matter what your favorite team is (go 49ers!), you can get your officially licensed NFL cakes of cupcakes at your local Safeway location. You simply place your order in the bakery section where they have lots of themes to choose from. Depending on who the party is for, you can have your cake made more for kids with cute little plastic rings on it, or you can go more “adult’ with it. Totally up to you!
I like to start with the cake or cupcakes as the focal point of the table and decorate around it. I love to have different textures on my party tables, so a black and white tablecloth or runner mixed with a long wooden cutting board gives a great contrast and makes the table look more chic and put together.
I also love to use various containers to hold food and snacks, which give the table more of an eclectic look. The goal would be to keep it simple, and avoid overcrowding the table.
Offer your guests a few different snacks, and keep your beverages simple. Prepare a pitcher of lemonade and flavored ice water, or keep a separate cooler full of your favorite adult beverages.
Since I always have succulents lying around, I generally use those as a space filler when decorating a food table. They add some green to the mix and make the table look fuller. I also fill the table with activities or party favors. You can print your own game cards or find them at one of your local stores. I found these football BINGO cards and football word search cards that were perfect for my quick and easy football party, plus looked great on my table.
