I have received compensation for this post from Church & Dwight Co., Inc. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
For those of you with a type-A personality, the thought of anything out of order or dirty might drive you crazy. I’d like to think of myself as a creative with type-A tendencies. In other words, in my mind I want everything to be perfectly organized and clean, but because I’m such a creative, I tend to destroy everything in my path and can live like that for days at a time until I crack and have to deep clean everything.
At night I turn into “mean mom” and demand that everyone contribute to putting things away before bedtime. If the dishes aren’t done, I sometimes stay up late to finish them because the thought of waking up to a messy house and dishes in the sink is so depressing to me.
Life gets to be so busy sometimes, and as a work-at-home-mom, I have to often choose between making money and keeping my house perfectly tidy (and we all probably know which one I choose most often). I have little tornado kids that pull out every little toy all summer long, but I can’t be constantly interrupted to clean it all up when doing my work.
Reminders to Clean
I am not big on leaving things out that I don’t use every day, but the one exception I do have is cleaning products. I literally leave my bathroom cleaners out on the top shelf in the bathroom to remind myself to clean the shower, bathtub, floors, toilets, sinks, etc. Instead of having the products hidden in a cupboard where I’ll likely forget about them and end up feeling overwhelmed when the bathrooms get out of hand, I like to keep them in sight and use them constantly. I may be a messy creative, but I want my house to be cleaned.
KaboomTM
Who remembers the KaboomTM commercials on TV that showed how easy it is to clean soap scum off of your shower doors and tile? Yeah, those seem like they aired forever ago, but I’ve actually been a fan of Kaboom for that many years. My mom was the first one in our family to buy Kaboom products and because of their great price (and reputation) I caught on.
We just, within the last month, got a Family Dollar store here in our small town, and I found Kaboom Foam-Tastic and Kaboom Shower, Tub and Tile cleaner there.
I’m obsessed with foaming bathroom cleaners like KaboomTM Foam-TasticTM, so I stocked up on my first visit to the store. If you’ve never used Foam-Tastic before, you need to try it out. It changes colors from blue to white when it’s ready to be wiped off. The foam does most of the work for you, which I find to be oddly satisfying. If I’m trying to tackle really tough areas, I use a scrub brush and give the area an extra scrub for good measure.
The Kaboom Shower, Tub and Tile cleaning spray is really great for hard soap scum that is dried onto your shower doors. And if you have little areas in your shower that tend to get black stains, or any kind of build-up, it’s great for those areas, too.
Make it a Habit
If you find that cleaning the bathroom is something you struggle with, try keeping your Shower, Tub and Tile cleaning spray in sight but out of the reach of children to remind yourself to use them.

Never have tried Kaboom but this weekend I’ll be hopping over to the Family Dollar store and using the coupon to try it out. Thanks!
