Something about the change in seasons makes me excited to try new beauty and skincare products. Call me crazy, but it’s true! Today, I’ve rounded up some great beauty products that I have personally tried that I think are great additions to your spring/summer beauty bag (or drawer, in my case).
Yuni Shower Sheets
These large shower sheets are so nice when you are leaving the gym and planning on heading out shopping or to eat afterwards. They are also fantastic to toss in your beach bag for a quick wipe down after a day at the beach.
Avène Mineral Light Mattifying Sunscreen Lotion
Eau Thermale Avene is one of my favorite skincare brands. I currently use some of their face serums and a great moisturizer, and my recent must-have for this sunny California weather is the Mineral Light Mattifying Sunscreen Lotion for your face. A little goes a long way with this SPF 50+, so you definitely get a lot of bang for your buck with this one. Plus, it’s small enough for a carry-on bag for travels.
Scentbird Bath & Body Products
I was first introduced to Scentbird when I tested out their candles (which I’m obsessed with). When I found out they had bath and body products in the same great scents as their candles, I just had to try them. The body polish, sugar scrub, and exfoliating wash are great to use before you plan to get a spray tan or apply tanning lotion. I actually use the shower cream to shave with and then use some of the other products on a loofa for washing my whole body. I can’t express enough how much I love the scents of these products.
Face Stockholm Liquid Eyeliners
Spring and summer are a great time to experiment with fun shades of eye makeup. These metallic liquid eyeliners from Face Stockholm are subtle, but offer just enough shimmer to let you feel a little on the wild side.
Cochine Saigon Hand Creams
If you know me, you know that I cannot live with drive hands. I always have to have a good hand cream within an arm’s reach at all times and I’ve been loving these ones from Cochine Saigon. The aren’t greasy and provide so much moisture. The scents are seriously fab, to the point that you don’t even need to wear perfume.
Tangle Angel Hair Brush
This hairbrush is fantastic for getting tangles out of freshly highlighted hair (it always seems to tangle more) or after a day of swimming in the pool or ocean. It’s a little large for travel, but if you can just keep it in your beach bag, you’ll be good to go.
Supersmile Whitening Toothpaste
I never would have imagined that rosewater mint-flavored toothpaste would be good, but this toothpaste is so great. After just one week of using it I noticed my teeth looking whiter and brighter, and the taste really grew on me. The texture is a little different than other toothpastes, and it feels almost a little like a cream or a mousse. You only use a tiny pea-sized amount each brushing, so this huge tube lasts a long time.
Yuni My Om World Aromatic Body Mist
I have to share a funny story where this product really came in handy. I was stressing so much before my daughters’ first dance recital, so I decided to pack this body mist with me to help myself calm down during rehearsal and the recital. The cooling feeling and calming scent helped me so much. I think I need to get myself the travel size to take on trips. It also comes in a little gift set at Sephora. It’s great for travel anxiety.
MyChelle Lip Hints Lip Balm
Spring and summer are the perfect seasons for fun lip colors, but what about those times when you aren’t really feeling like getting all dolled up? My personal favorite moisturizing lip balm right now is from MyChelle, with my favorite tint being the sheer.
Klorane Dry Shampoo
This beauty product pick doesn’t need much explanation, but let’s just say “2nd day hair!” Who the heck wants to wash their hair every day? It’s actually not even good to do so. You’re welcome, ladies! Stock up in some of Klorane’s dry shampoos for light or dark hair and you’ll have everyone fooled. Dry shampoo is a must-have on vacation, so don’t forget the powdered version that is carry-on friendly.
Karyng Complete Tinted Broad Spectrum SPF 50
If you don’t feel like layering your sunscreen and makeup, this product is a great option. While SPF protection is important year-round, the strong UV rays in the summer make SPF an absolute must. This extraordinary morning formulation is an SPF shield, emollient moisturizer, anti-aging powerhouse, and makeup primer all in one! This beautifully tinted cream comes in two shades for a flawless glow, all the time. I personally use the light/medium. This product is at a higher price point, but it helps increase collagen and reduced the appearance of pores.
Olika Minnie Natural Hand Sanitizer
Hand sanitizer isn’t exactly a beauty product, but since we’re on the topic of spring and summer products, this is a great one for your travels. It’s a spray-on sanitizer, versus a gel and doesn’t leave your hands feeling sticky. The two-pack is only $12.99. You can also find these “Minnie” hand sanitizers at Urban Outfitters.
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Polish
How fun are these shades for the warmer seasons? When traveling, I always pack a “just in case” nail polish and these fast drying polishes are the best. I do notice that some of the shades don’t go on a smoothly as the others, so you have to figure out the right amount of coats and thickness to put on. Also, try to avoid applying these polishes in a windy area or a room with a fan on. They do dry really fast, and if they are drying too quickly while you’re applying it, it’s not good. I also recommend getting their clear coat, which is great for a little extra shine or touch up between manicures.
Klorane Blond Highlights Products
I recently just had my hair highlighted and these blond products from Klorane are perfect. I really love the vinegar shine rinse with chamomile but you should also try the sun lightening spray if you are trying to achieve that natural sun-kissed hair look.
Rene Furterer Paris Solaire Sun Ritual Products
The SOLAIRE range is designed to shield hair from UV damage and promote repair after exposure to sunlight, salt and chlorine. This collection’s sun-protection products feature Sesame oil and René Furterer’s proprietary Keratin Protection Factor (KPF), while the after-sun products hydrate and nourish the hair with Jojoba wax and other powerful plant-based ingredients.
Aveda Texture Tonic
Achieve the ultimate textured, beachy waves with this texture spray. Enhance texture or add grit and light hold to fine, silky, hard-to-style hair. You can spray it on wet hair and diffuse or do what I do and spray it on and let hair air-dry — or scrunch into dry hair for a natural, glamorously messy look.
