A lot of us don’t have the money we need to properly renovate the rooms in our house, and there’s good times of the year when we can set some cash aside to spruce up our living space, but what about the rest of the time? When the decorating frenzy takes over, what do we do with the limited resources we have? Thankfully there’s some good ideas out there on the market, and here’s some of the best.
Throw Down a Rug
Rugs are relatively inexpensive, considering everything else on the market, and they can hide a multitude of sins! If your carpet is fraying and seriously worn down, or your hardwood flooring is getting dented and scratched, just throw down a rug.
They completely change the look of a room, and make it a lot more cozier at the same time. Plus, you’re going to have something nice and soft underneath your feet whenever you want to relax. It also means you won’t have to put too much effort into taking care of any wood flooring, as sanding your entire house down needs a weekend or two dedicated to it!
Check Out Charity Shops
If you want a little more freedom in what you can decorate with, check out your local charity and thrift shops. Not only are you going to help yourself out, but you’re going to be both recycling and giving someone more of a chance in life at the same time.
You can find out more about the different causes out there and how you can help by visiting their shops by heading to a site such as www.habitathm.ca. All products you’ll be able to pick up are discounted by nature, and have some good vintage wear and tear in them; perfect for a side table arrangement you’ve been dreaming of since you moved in.
Don’t Forget Your Windows
We always underestimate how much a good window setting does for our environment until we take off the curtains and realize how empty the room now is! So in your need to decorate to your heart’s content, don’t forget your curtains! The heaviest of drapes and the lightest of nets all have their own advantages after all.
If your house is feeling a little musty, take down those curtains and put up something lighter, and wash your net curtains if you have any. Simply freshening up the space does a lot for your outlook, both physically and mentally. At the same time, dust down your window wills, and even invest in a can of gloss paint if you’ve got any discolored areas. Neatening up the fringes of your house does a lot for how a room looks, and keeps it a lot cleaner for a lot longer.
So if you’re struggling with how little money you have to spend on freshening up the living room, be smart with your design choices. It’s actually a lot easier to run on a budget than you might think!
