Having a baby is an amazing experience, one that is magical and life-changing. And while you’ll enjoy taking time bonding with your baby, sooner or later you will want to get fit again. Whether you have a few extra pounds to lose, or you just want to get your health back on track with an active lifestyle, there are many different things that you can do, without worrying about how much time you have.
You’re a Mother now, and life will start to dramatically change, so it’s important that you take time out to realize this and accept that things are different. You need to make time for yourself so you don’t ever feel consumed, and exercising goes hand in hand with that, because it has such a positive impact on the body that not only gives you all the physical benefits like burning fat, and keeping your body fit. But the mental ones too, like that rush you get after you’ve finished a good workout and you feel on top of the world. And this is from the endorphins that your brain is triggered to release as soon as you start getting active.
It’s very common for new Mommas to feel guilty about wanting to do things like this, because they think that any free time they have should be all on the baby, but this isn’t the case. Being a Mommy is a full-time job, so any free time that you can get is welcomed.
So now it’s time to think about what kind of exercises are right for you. There are plenty out there – here are just a few to get you started.
Boxing
If you prefer a little more of a high-intensity workout, then boxing is great for this. It’s not only cardio but improves strength too. Boxing is all about engaging your core, because this is where all the strength comes from – it’s what balances and stabilizes you, so you can expect to gain muscle and achieve that flat stomach that we all dream of. Boxing isn’t only great to keep fit though – there are many rules that you can use and apply them to your day to day life. It teaches you to be focused, prepared, and mentally strong, and these are all great attributes to have.
Jogging
Jogging is a great way of keeping fit, but also in control, because it’s really down to you on how far you push yourself with this. You can go for a light jog around the block once a day for around twenty minutes, or you may decide you want to go further, and for longer. Another excellent way of getting fit and burning fat is by alternating what you do. So start with a jog, then turn that into a run, then sprint for twenty seconds, and then return to a jog again. You could even bring your baby with you if no one else is around to look after them. Have a look at The Ultimate Best Double Jogging Stroller Guide for 2018 to find what works best for this.
Dancing
Let’s face it, who doesn’t like to dance? And better yet – it’s good for you! What better way to burn calories and keep fit than having a boogie to your favorite music? The good thing about this is that you can do it from the comfort of your own home, and with your baby in your arms. Or there are plenty of classes that you can go to like Zumba that plays an array of funky Latin music and do cardio inspired routines that get your heart beating and the blood pumping through your body. You can even go with a few friends and have a laugh while keeping fit. So have a look in your local area and see what’s on offer.
Swimming
Swimming is a very nice exercise that calms the entire body, while working every muscle and toning you up as you go. People tend to swim when they are feeling stressed or anxious because it’s relaxing and you’re able to focus on your breath, and tune that in with your body – it’s almost a form of meditation. You are completely weightless when in water, and this is especially good if you have any problems with your joints because the mobility and motion from moving in water helps, without putting any strain on the body, this is why it is often used as a form of cardio. It’s gentle, and yet you can create resistance when you want to.
