It’s that time of year, and you’re vacationing. You’ve probably taken several hard drives worth of photos. Now, they are all loaded to the cloud–ready for viewing at any time.
But, do you even look at them? Probably not as often as you think.
Digital photos take a bit of the allure away from photos. They just aren’t as fun to view on your mobile device as they are in a scrapbook. Continue reading to learn why you should scrapbook your travel photos.
You Can Scrapbook According to Your Tastes
It’s so easy to use Photoshop, filters or other photo-editing apps to edit your images. But, it just feels so cold. Plus, it’s also sort of a one-and-done deal.
You edit an image, post it on social media, wait for likes and never look at it again. Scrapbooking is different. You can feel the book, and the pictures in your hand. You can personalize it with rubber stamps, stickers, writing and more.
In addition, if you know you’re planning to scrapbook, you’ll probably take more detailed photos. This is a different mindset than the one you might have for Instagram.
Scrapbooking makes you want to take more photos of personal things such as your family outings and even your daily routines. With scrapbooking, you can tell your unique story.
Memories Aren’t Always the Truth
We all have different memories of the same event. Memories can also change over time. Just think of a relationship that ended badly. At the time, you probably had quite a few reasons to get out of it.
Then, a few years pass, and suddenly you miss the ex who used to make you so angry. With scrapbooks, you can record a story that shows exactly what you saw and experienced at that time.
It might make you happy, or it might feel creepy. Either way, it will be an honest portrayal of what it was like.
Your Photos Need a Real Home
Again, here’s what we do with digital photos:
- Take a picture
- Add a filter
- Edit as needed
- Load to social media
- Wait for likes and comments
- Forget we ever took it
- Move on to the next photo for more likes
Taking and sharing pictures online feels so robotic. There’s no fun in it–especially for people who live for likes. Why should you look at your phone 50 times an hour to see how many likes you’ve received?
It’s a waste of precious time. Plus, your photos deserve a nice home. Scrapbooking can provide that home. As soon as you start, you’ll get a warm feeling viewing all your wonderful memories.
Photos can be deleted. On the other hand, physical photos can be shared with your kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. It’s nice to have an album where you can flip through and remember all the fantastic trips.
Scrapbooking is a Gift
You certainly have family members with photo albums. Don’t you love looking through them? Photos become more interesting in an album or scrapbook.
That trip to Paris just doesn’t feel as real on your mobile device. The same is true of your trip to Thailand.
A scrapbook is a gift you can pass down to your family and loved ones. We live in a fast-paced world. You may look back at your teens, 20s, 30s or other decade and think,”WOW! That flew by!”
Does time speed up as we get older? It can feel that way.
Yet, when you browse through photos, you can recall many of the great memories where you got to travel throughout your country or the world. These are the seasons of your life that you can document.
Final Thought
It may seem like more work to put your travel photos in a scrapbook, but itβs a lot of fun. You get to express your creative side while providing a home for your photos that are enjoyable to browse.
