If you still haven’t planned a summer vacation this year, don’t worry – there are still two months left to go until Fall will be here! Not sure where you would go? How about spending a few nights away at the coast? There are lots of great destinations that have some fantastic beaches and stunning landscapes to boot. They will certainly help your Instagram stand out from the crowd!
So, if you have a few days with no plans, why not book a trip to one of these awesome seaside locations.
Fort Pierce, Florida
Fort Pierce isn’t a brilliantly well-known tourist hotspot, so you will be able to spend a few quiet days away here without worrying about crowds or noise. It is also known for its Beachside Rehab center, where people struggling with stress and other conditions can recover away from the buzz of the city. So, as you can tell, this is a great coastal location if you need to unwind and forget about everyday life! While you are there, don’t forget to pop into the Navy Seal Museum to learn about the history of this military division.
Astoria, Oregon
Oregon’s coastline is extremely underrated, but it is very beautiful and well worth a visit. As well as all the bracing scenery, there is a lot of history to discover. You can easily spend a day at the Columbia River Maritime Museum. The museum takes visitors from the early days of sailing when people used to make their own dug-out canoes right through to present day ships. If you fancy going hiking after sunning yourself on the beach, you should visit Fort Stevens State Park.
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
The largest resort in South Carolina, Myrtle Beach has something for the whole family! Sure, you could spend your days relaxing on the sugar-white beaches, but you should also plan enough time to hang out in the amusement fairs, visit the exciting water park, and indulge your taste buds in one of the many coastal restaurants. Don’t forget to visit the Broadway either. There are lots of shops, and the kids will love browsing all the sweet shops and indulging in hot donuts and sweet cotton candy.
Nantucket, Massachusetts
Nantucket might have a reputation for being a very expensive place to visit, but it’s still very much possible to take your whole family on a budget. You just need to book in advance for some great accommodation deals! This destination is quintessentially New English and looks like a beautiful fairytale land. It was once a whaling community, but these days there are plenty of attractions to keep tourists happy. Once you’ve learned about the town’s history at the Nantucket Whaling Museum, you can unwind on beautiful ‘Sconset Beach.
Coronado, California
Just like the Florida coastline, the California coast also features lots of holistic health centers for those wishing to fully rejuvenate and recharge their batteries before returning to city life. But it’s also a great destination for regular tourists as well. For instance, take Coronado. This large beach has a few hotels that back right onto the sand, so you could step out straight onto the beach after breakfast! This resort is busy all year around. It is a top whale-watching spot through the winter months before turning into a surfer’s paradise once the weather improves.
East Hampton, New York
There’s a whole lot more to New York than New York City! Take East Hampton for example. This endless white sand beach seems to stretch forever, so it’s perfect for romantic evening strolls. As it’s just an easy drive out of New York City, you should expect to bump into many worn-out New Yorkers who are away for a few days to try and recharge their batteries before heading back to their busy lives! You might bump into a famous A-lister when you are wandering down Main Street. Oh, and don’t forget to try one of East Hampton’s famous lobster rolls. There is a lot of seafood available, but the rolls have a strong reputation!
As you can see, there are plenty of gorgeous coastlines that are well worth a visit. Each has its own unique set of attractions and sights, but they are also perfect if you just want to do as little as possible and lounge on the beach. Once you return back to the city, you will certainly feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and full of vigor!
