People used to do pretty crazy things many years ago, things that are pretty much unthinkable now! Here are a few of them – you won’t believe what people used to do to themselves in the name of staying ‘healthy’.
Cocaine Probably Shouldn’t Be Used In Drinks And Medicines
Cocaine was once a huge ingredients in the drink Coca-cola, which is probably why it was so addictive. It was also included in different medicines and drugs, and apparently treated things like asthma and depression. People actually thought it was part of a healthy lifestyle, and took it when they wanted a little extra ‘pep in their step’. These days, we know it as a dangerous party drug that could cause addiction and eventually kill you!
Smoking Is Not Good For Us
Smoking used to be used for all kinds of crazy things, from relieving headaches, and the common cold. People smoked for pleasure too, and warding off fatigue. In India they even used tobacco toothpaste, thinking that it was good for their teeth.
Infecting Your Body With Tapeworms Won’t Make You Healthy
People used to actually infect their body with tapeworms so that they could eat as much as they wanted and always stay thin. Fat was labelled as ‘the enemy’, and people thought if they got tapeworms they could eat what they liked and remain healthy.
