Life is a busy old thing. For the most part, we work five days a week and have two days off to just be, to relax, to spend time with the family. To be able to keep each part of our lives working, from our jobs to our time spent with the children, we need to be smart!
Balance is crucial in life. Imagine trying to carry a pile of stacked bricks, with each new brick weighing you down until you cannot possibly carry anymore? That’s what happens when it’s all work and no play! It really does make Jack a dull boy! You should ask yourself what you can do to keep those plates in the air and spinning, while being happy and enjoying life all at once. So, what are the most common areas of life we need to balance?
Work
To maintain a career is not an easy job. Going into work on time every day, staying positive about your routine and trying your hardest to climb the career ladder takes up a lot of our time. Work maintenance also incorporates your mental health so you don’t suffer from the pressures of your job.
Health
Finding the time to work out, eat good calories and get in an invigorating swim is tough, especially if your job is a high powered one and you have a family at home. The thing is, you have to MAKE the time to keep your health balanced. Make those doctor’s appointments that you have been putting off and make the time to squeeze in that swim, even if it means waking in the wee hours of the morning.
Play
The weekends are those to live for. To spend time with friends and being social, or catching up with the backed up TV schedule you’ve been recording all week. Get in a few giggles by looking up http://www.netflixupdate.com/netflix-comedies-available-now/ and curling up with a huge bowl of popcorn. Your entertainment in life is just as important as your career; after all, how else would you spend your hard-earned salary.
Family
If you are balancing a family among all of the above, you may get a little worn out. That doesn’t mean it can’t be done, it just requires mega organization so that you can fit everything in equally. Of course, school hours take up the majority of the week, with the children away and learning well. But those bedtime stories and weekends are precious for family time so don’t let that slip!We may have to keep a lot of plates spinning on a daily basis, but it’s chasing that balance that makes life interesting. As long as you’re fit, healthy, financially solvent and enjoying your family, you’re balancing it all. You can have it all, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from chasing the dream. But keep those plates spinning and do your best to enjoy yourself while you do it. You only get one chance to get it right!

Balance is important. I have narcolepsy and am always SO TIRED. I work full time and my doctor said that I push myself so hard to work that I have nothing left. I spend too much of my free time sleeping. Sigh! kristiedonelson(at)gmail(dot)com Thank you. Happy February!
