Avoid Color
First things first, we don’t mean go totally monochrome (unless you really want to). But generally, keeping things simple is key to a minimalist style bedroom. Neutral colors like white and cream are perfect for your walls and ceiling. They will also make your room look much bigger than it actually is, and it will appear brighter, too. If you have a colored carpet, consider replacing it with a wood floor for a truly minimalist feel. Try to use color sparingly to add detail to a room, rather than it being the focus of a room. Flowers, paintings and candle holders are all great ways to inject a pop of color into your minimalist bedroom without it taking over the whole design.
Make Your Bed Your Haven
Your bed is where you come to relax after a long day, whether that means falling straight to sleep or watching Netflix until 2am. Do your research on the best and worst beds and mattresses until you find the one that’s right for you. Then, choose your bedding so that it compliments the rest of your room. Neutral colors are still best for duvet covers, but you can have fun with patterns and different designs. If you feel that your bed still looks a little bare afterwards, invest in a selection of colored pillows to brighten it up. Hanging fairy lights above your bed also make for a super-cozy look perfect for fall.
Keep it tidy
If you’re a naturally messy person, the minimalist look could be a bit of a challenge to maintain. But, there are ways it can be done! Make storage boxes your best friend. You can generally get hold of these pretty cheap from major retailers and they come in a variety of different sizes, too. There’s nothing worse than a cluttered desk or a ‘floordrobe‘ when you are trying to live in minimalist heaven. So, if you know you’re likely to make a mess, buy a storage box for every section of your life. One for makeup, one for hair products, one for DVDs, one for work… you get the picture. You will be amazed at how relaxed you feel once you know that everything has its place. Plus, if you can’t find something, you will know the first place to look if you are using storage boxes.

Wow! Minimalism sounds difficult. I have too much stuff. Storage boxes are a good idea though. We do have a latex mattress that I love. It's a big block of latex. Super comfortable. Thanks for sharing about this new trend! Shared on Facebook. kristiedonelson(at)gmail(dot)com Thank you.

That rolling table is fabulous. I love white rooms, but I am afraid I would make a mess.
