Moving home can be quite a big deal. It can cost a lot of money, as well as taking up a lot of time and stress. So you don’t want to move home unless you completely have to. If your home is a bit on the smaller side, then you might yearn for a larger and more spacious home. There are some things that you can do, to maximize the space that you already have. With a few clever tricks, the rooms in your home will be looking and feeling larger in no time.
Organize the Kitchen
If your kitchen is on the small side, then it can be a pain to be in there. It is a room that gets used several times a day, though. So there is no getting away from it. If you can make your kitchen more user-friendly, then it will help a lot. If you feel like you are constantly pushing into anyone else that is in the kitchen, it could be because it is a little disorganized. If you have a pantry, it could be that you need to get some shelving to organize where everything belongs. Getting dividers for drawers is a good idea too, as well as more organized dry goods.
Avoid Using Too Much Floor Space
If a room is small, it will be made to look even smaller if all of the floor space is used up. For example, a coffee table is probably not a good idea in a small living area. If there isn’t much visual floor space, it will make a room look much smaller. Wall shelving is a great idea in living areas and bedrooms. It allows you to put things up, without compromising on space. It might be a good idea to mount your TV on a wall, as well as any accessories like a DVD player and consoles. Again; it frees up the floor space where a large TV stand might have gone. There are plenty of tips for mounting your TV online if you feel like you’d need a little help.
Use of Mirrors in the Bathroom
Mirrors are great to use around any small home. They work particularly well in bathrooms, though. Our bathrooms can be pretty small, but mirrors can make such a difference. They make a room much larger. So getting plenty of large mirrors on the wall of a small space will open the room right up. Mirrors help to reflect the light and add a bit of sparkle to the room too.
Keep Colors Light and Bright
Darker colors can affect the look of a room so much. They detract the light from a room, as well as making a room look smaller. Dark colors can seem quite harsh on a room too. They can make where the floor and walls meet look quite blunt. So it is best to choose colors that are airy and bright. Neutrals always work well, as well as white, yellows and pale pastel colors.

I have a smaller house and all my wall colors are lighter, we think it makes the house not seem so small!
