Having a good night’s sleep is so important. A lot of people struggle to sleep properly, though. It is essential when you’re a busy parent as there is so much to get done, there isn’t always time during naps. Plus, if the kids are full of energy, you need to be able to keep up!
So why do you think people aren’t getting enough sleep? I think a lot of it can be down to the bed you have. If it is too soft, or even too firm, it can stop you sleeping at your best. The first thing to do if you are struggling to get a good night’s sleep is to look at your mattress. If it is a few years old, it is likely that you need to get a new one. Be sure to check out some mattress reviews to find the best one for you.
Shop around and find one that works best for your needs. A medium to firm rating is usually best, but everyone has differences in what they class as comfort. If getting a whole new mattress is a bit of a stretch at the moment, think about getting a mattress topper instead. A mattress topper will add an extra layer of comfort and even out any lumps and bumps. They cost a lot less than a new mattress too. Perhaps that is an option to try out first?
Choose a comforter that is suited to the time of year that you need and the climate. There are a lot of options to think about, such as filling. This will all depend on the time of year you are buying for, though. If it is in winter, a thick down comforter would be best as you want to stay warm. In summer, you don’t want to get sweaty in your sleep, that certainly won’t make for a good night’s sleep. Down is usually the best type of filling. Synthetic fillings can make it hard to regulate the temperature.
The right type of sheets will help a good night’s sleep too. Fabric that will be touching your skin is best if it is super soft and comfortable. Your current sheets might not be too old but after lots of washing they can get bobbley and worn. Fresh new sheets make the world of difference for your comfort in bed. Egyptian cotton sheets are the ultimate choice to go for. If you want lovely soft, crisp sheets, cotton is the best option. It might sound strange, but it is quite a nice feeling getting into bed, with fresh sheets that are nice and cool. You will only get that with cotton. Other materials may be a little bit cheaper. However, you should think of it as an investment as you can’t put a price on good sleep!
Making a few changes to things like bedding can make the world of difference to your sleep. I have also found that avoiding using my phone when I’m in bed, helps me to sleep. Leave it downstairs and then you can just wind down in bed, technology free.
