I’m currently in the process of turning our formal dining room turned playroom back into TV room and have been having such a hard time committing to a color scheme. I’ve recently teamed up with Minted (affiliate) to do a travel themed gallery wall and I just wanted to share the mock-up with you all! It took me about three hours to find the art pieces and frames but after seeing it all together, I’m thinking it looks great. I was able to incorporate a couple of my own photos into the mix, too. The cow and coconut pictures were taken in a little community about two hours north east of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
We have a dark brown sectional couch in this room and a dark brown TV stand from World Market, so I wanted to break up the darkness a bit.
On my most recent trip to Home Goods I bought a bunch of pillows in the navy and teal hues and I was surprised to find that they actually didn’t look too bad with the brown couch. I feel like I’m horrible at knowing what works together when it comes to home decor, but I’m learning that I won’t know what works if I don’t take risks. I left the tags on the pillows for a few days to make sure I really liked the look.
When this room was a playroom, the walls were filled with art projects and maps of the world. I decided to stick with the travel theme in this room but just make it more grown up looking.
I also picked up with old world map from World Market that was discounted quite a bit because it was missing the glass. I’m hoping to incorporate this piece into the room, as well (since it can’t be returned because it was on clearance).
