Summer Essentials
When I think “summer essentials,” there are a few things that come to mind. Coconut. Cocktails. Swimsuits. Sunscreen and COLOR. So as I write this article, I will be sipping on a blended margarita (with salt and lime, of course). Don’t worry, my husband is watching the kiddos.
Cheers!
Here are some budget-friendly summer essentials that I’ve been using the past few months. You may have already seen some of them on the blog recently, but they are that great that I felt the need to include them in this article.
Aloe vera gel is found in many forms in the skin care world, but Aubrey® is committed to keeping our Pure Aloe Vera in its natural liquid form, without artificial thickeners that may irritate the skin instead of soothing it.
My Thoughts: Aloe Vera on a beach day is a must. Not only is it great for after-sun care, but it’s great as a moisturizer all day long. It even layers well with SPF.

My Thoughts: You all know I’m a huge fan of CND Vinylux colors but I wanted to share some super beachy hues for summer. I tend to go for more of the bluish tones for beach days and these two blues look gorgeous on.

Description: This safe and gentle mineral lotion formula that is perfect for kids (and adults!) and features a unique, cool fragrance to make sun care fun! Australian Gold combines cutting edge sunscreen protection with Asian skin caring ingredients, Yomogi and Butterfly Bush, to deliver sun protection with exceptional skin care. Signature Hello Kitty design and custom fragrance adds special appeal for Hello Kitty fans.
My Thoughts: We’ve been using this SPF on my 4-year old all summer long. She has not had one reaction or sunburn thanks to Australian Gold and it smells AMAZING. In fact, we were on a snorkeling cruise in Cabo San Lucas and people were trying to figure out what the amazing fruity smell was coming from. It rubs in so well, but be careful. Too much will have you looking like a ghost.

Description: Inspired by the vibrant culture of Morocco, this sensual Bodycology fragrance of sweet passionfruit and blooming hibiscus flower whisks you away to an exotic escape that will inspire the senses. Smooth over skin, giving special care to dry or rough areas to enjoy long-lasting hydration. Formulated with a rich butter complex containing Shea, Cocoa & Jojoba butters, Vitamin E and Aloe Vera this luxurious cream penetrates skin to leave it feeling soft for hours.
My Thoughts: This body lotion feels and smells like summer. It’s so silky (but not slippery) and smells so fresh, like a cocktail.

Description: This SPF 15 brightening moisturizer by Mineral Fusion naturally brightens the skin with vitamin C and orange oil. It’s light enough to be worn under makeup and keeps skin hydrated with coconut oil and mineral water. Light reflecting Mica gives skin a natural glow.
My Thoughts: While I haven’t tried this product under my makeup, I have used it instead of makeup. I love that it contains coconut oil as a moisturizer and the Mica particles give my skin a dewy glow.

Description: The perfect primer for makeup, this sunscreen by Equitance filters UV rays and environmental stressors that contribute to hyperpigmentation, photo aging and skin-harm.
My Thoughts: This SPF works great under makeup. It doesn’t feel too thick, cakey or greasy and seems to stay on really well. My trouble spot is my upper lip area. Since I’m always wiping sweat off of it at the beach, it tends to get sunburnt, which then turns to a tan and looks like a mustache. I reapply this SPF 36 to the upper lip area throughout the day to prevent the sunburn from happening.

My Thoughts: I love that I can just toss this little sunscreen stick (no larger than the palm of my hand) into my beach bag. The smell is not my favorite but the SPF 40 works great.

Description: A trusted alternative for sun protection, Nature’s Gate Sun Care is safe and gentle for the entire family. Infused with natural botanicals, Nature’s Gate Sunscreens are formulated with responsible and effective ingredients that help protect skin against UV exposure while soothing and hydrating skin. Water resistant (40 minutes).
My Thoughts: This sunscreen has a very mild scent, almost like black pepper (in a good way). Start with a small amount at first because applying too much will leave your kids with super white skin. It’s a tiny bit on the greasy side, but not slippery when it touches water.

Dry Skin is my biggest skincare concern. I have a sensory problem with most lotions. The greasiness of the lotion can make me itchy so I often don't wear lotion and my skin gets really dry.

My biggest skin concern is how dry it is! But on my face specifically, a lot of moisturizers can be harsh. Also, I get hand eczema breakouts because of how often I wash them/use cleaning agents.
