I like to encourage my kids to be independent from an early age. I’ve done some research into the Montessori methods for learning and daily routines and I would say that my parenting style is somewhat influenced by those methods.
The Prince Lionheart Faucet Extender ($9.99/2 pack) is one of the simplest ways to encourage independence when it comes to teeth brushing and hand washing. The simple silicone and plastic extender slips over most faucets (straight or goose-neck) to help extend the reach of water towards the front of the sink so little hands can reach it. The Prince Lionheart Step Stool ($14.99) has been a lifesaver all around the house for my three-year old. We keep it tucked under her bathroom sink and she’s able to pull it out to use the potty, brush her teeth, wash her hands and even uses it to grab out-of-reach items in her bedroom and playroom.
