“If we make it simple to save cash when shopping and easy to give some of that savings to charity, then millions more will give back.” – GivingAssistant.org
Lots of us have cash back debit and credit cards, and are even part of cash back sites online. They are all pretty similar in that they offer you a percentage of the money you spend back after you’ve reached a certain amount. Some allow you to purchase products, some allow you to receive a check and then there’s Giving Assistant.
Giving Assisant offers the fastest cash back to debit card (in just days) and there’s no minimum amount required to get cash back. They also offer the highest cash back on the market with 5% back on Amazon.com purchases and 30% back on purchases from their other 2,000+ retail partners.
Getting started is easy. You sign in using your Facebook account or an email address. Then you determine how much of your cash back you would like to keep and how much you would like to donate. Then, you choose a charity and start shopping!
I decided to give Giving Assistant a try by doubling it up with Amazon Smile. I purchased the book, Ferdinand the Bull for my daughter for her Easter back. Within two to seven days I should be getting my 5% cash back where I have designated half of the money to go to the Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California.
Amazon Cash Back Details
Giving Assistant pays you back 5% of all qualifying purchases sold by Amazon.com. Cash back not available for gift-cards, amazon.com credit, activation fees, shipping, taxes or other surcharges on top of the base product price. For products not ‘Sold by Amazon’ cash back is at the 3rd party merchant’s discretion. Any travel-related items require travel to be complete before cash back should be expected. Typically cash back is given 1-3 days after the purchase is complete, products must ship before cash back is distributed.
I checked to see if I could receive cash back by shopping on the Target website and it looks like the cash back program with Target is currently unavailable. However, I did notice that Giving Assistant offers coupons for stores like Victoria’s Secret, Kmart, Target and so many more.
This website truly makes it so easy to donate your cash back. It makes me feel good knowing that I’m helping a worthy cause and I especially like that it doesn’t cost me extra money out of pocket so I’m not having to deduct another amount from my bank balance. I’ve also been able to discover new (to me) charities that I never knew existed, thanks to the Giving Assistant charity searcher.
The signup process for Giving Assistant was very easy and it doesn’t take much effort to order through their links. Their website even offers coupons for lots of retailers and one free meal gets donated each time you use a coupon. How cool is that? This is a great opportunity to save money on products you might be already shopping for.
What’s even better is there’s no membership fee for Giving Assistant. Unlike Costco, you get to take advantage of the discounts and cash back for free.
