The Most Practical Double Jogging Stroller – Mountain Buggy +One

Double strollers are so nice to have but can sometimes come with a hefty price tag.  If you’re going to spend the money it’s important to purchase a product that will last for years and grow with your family and your ever-changing needs.  Consider a stroller that has multiple uses and functions to eliminate the need for extra baby gear.

My husband and I spent about three hours at Babies ‘R Us one day in search of a double stroller that would fit in my new Nissan Rogue.  We thoroughly tested and compared each double stroller in the store and could not find one that was a comfortable weight for me to lift and that had a width that would fit in my car.  Most of the double strollers weren’t all-terrain which was something that was important to me.  We left the store unhappy as we still didn’t have a double stroller and the baby was due to arrive in just a few weeks…

…and then came the Mountain Buggy +One.

After testing this stroller out for a few months I can confidently say that it’s a winner.  I previously inherited a double B.O.B. jogging stroller but ran into a few problems of impracticality.  The double B.O.B. was too wide to fit through most stores’ doorways; the stroller didn’t fit in my car’s trunk; and it was so darn heavy.  So, when it came time to search for a new double stroller for my growing family, the measurements and weight were my first concern.

Storage Space — Aside from the measurements and weight, a stroller needs to work and it needs to work well.  Too often do I test out strollers that just aren’t very well made.  I come across problems with wheels, the locking mechanisms, reclining seat problems, canopies being too short, horrible handlebar positioning, no storage space, etc.  What I really find myself taking advantage of with the +One is the massive amount of storage space.  The undercarriage can hold my large Petunia Picklebottom diaper bag and then some.  Also, when the stroller is in “single toddler mode” the entire back turns into a huge storage basket.  This is great for shopping trips and travel.

Canopy — A sun canopy is a must on strollers, in my opinion.  As you saw in my video (above) the +one’s sun canopy is massive.  It easily unzips to extend and cover both children and that’s super important for protecting their precious skin from sunburns.  It also does a great job at blocking out a lot of the wind.  Have you ever noticed that newborns have trouble breathing outside on a windy day?  I’ve literally watched baby Kendall gasp for air on a windy day and it’s not fun to watch as a parent.  I’m so thankful for this oversized canopy .

Rugged Tires — All-terrain tires come stock with the +one stroller.  While I’m usually iffy on tires filled with air, the durable tires have held up nicely on our walks.  Goat head thorns are our biggest problem on our walks but so far so good with the +one tires.   Another perk about these tires/wheels is they easily unclip from the stroller for cleaning or to create a better fit in your vehicle.  A lot of times I will go on a walk and come back with filthy, muddy stroller tires.  To be able to unclip them and hose them off without getting the rest of the stroller dirty is a huge plus.

Multiple Seating Options — As I mentioned previously, this stroller has so many seating options for one child or two children.  The newborn carry cot and the extra toddler seat come included in this stroller purchase so you don’t have to worry about forking out more money for the extra components.  Thank you Mountain Buggy!

Adjustable Handlebar — Whether you’re tall, short or in between, this adjustable handlebar will suit your preferences simply by pushing two buttons.  Maybe you like to jog with the handlebar higher and prefer it a little lower when you’re out shopping or on a little walk?  This is the stroller for you!  I love that it easily adjusts in a matter of seconds.

How to Fold the Mountain Buggy +One (Video c/o Mountain Buggy)

Without watching this video tutorial from Mountain Buggy, I would’ve never been able to figure out how to fold and secure my +one.

How does it push and steer? True to Mountain Buggy name, the massive wheels feature full tires means that it shifts very well on all surfaces and is especially useful for exploitation on the grass in the park.

Another fantastic feature to the current stroller is that the break. It’s settled on the handlebar, which could be a very little completely different. However, it is friendly and extremely straightforward to use. Then there’s the hood; that is essential for sun, protective each boy from the sunshine with ease. Whereas you’ll be able to get sleeker, extra efficient doubles the scale of this one does not cause too several issues. My Overall Thoughts on the +One

With a price tag of $649, I want to make sure I’m getting the most bang for my buck.  The Mountain Buggy +One stroller is such a unique all-in-one piece of baby gear that works from birth to toddlerhood for one or two children.  In my opinion, it’s about as much bang for you buck that you can get in a double stroller.  My home doesn’t have too much storage space in the garage between the two cars, a wagon, bikes, etc. so the less “junk” I have to store, the better.  I have a slim space at the front of my garage for this stroller and the family can easily walk around it without hitting it.

I can easily manage this stroller on my own which is way more than I can say with my previous double jogger.  After a little practice, I’m able to collapse the stroller and pop it right into the trunk of my SUV without needing help.  I’m certainly not the biggest or strongest person out there so the fact that I actually found a double stroller that I can manage says a lot.

One question that I’ve heard people ask is “what seating option is there for the younger child after they’ve outgrown the newborn carrycot?”  It’s a great question as we all know that babies don’t really have much control of their head which means they can’t sit in a toddler seat quite yet.  My solution is this:  the toddler goes in the back seat sitting straight up while the infant goes in the front seat slightly reclined.  With the help of Baby Elephant Ears their head is more secure.  Just make sure you’ve tightened the 5-point harness enough so the baby can’t move around too much.

My 3-yr old and infant seem to have no complaints when they’re cruising in the +one together.  Baby Kendall can kick around in the back in her newborn carry cot while big sister Charlotte takes on the world in the front seat.
