Valentine’s Day Party Ideas on a Budget
What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than to throw a fun party for your children and all of their school friends? Here are a few fun and affordable games, crafts, and snacks to serve to your party guests.
Heart Cookies
You can have the kids make their own desserts with cookie cutters, different colored icings (red, pink, white, purple), sprinkles, and cookie dough! If you want to save on some time, you can pre-make the cookies or just pre-make the dough and have the kids use the cookie cutters to shape the cookies.
Once the heart shaped cookies are baked, they’re ready for decorating! Set up colored icings, sprinkles, and all different types of Valentine’s Candy. Let them decorate it, take a picture and then snack away!
Games
Musical Chairs – A classic & fun game! Set up enough chairs for all of the kids to sit down in when the music stops. Then take one chair away. Play music again, and when the music stops whoever is left standing has to dance along on the sidelines. Continue the process until there is one person left sitting and is declared the winner! Make sure you encourage the kids to dance along to the music while they’re playing and while on the sidelines.
Pin the Heart on Cupid – A spin off of “pin the tail on the donkey.” Get a big picture of cupid and tape it up on the wall. Blindfold one child at a time, spin them around a few times and give them a heart sticker to pin on Cupid. Whoever is the closest, is the winner! The kids will enjoy seeing all of their friends dizzily trying to pin Cupid.
Decorations
Make the party festive with Valentine’s Day decorations including pink, red, and white balloons! Place cutout hearts around the room; add doilies to the tables, place fake flowers in vases on the tables, and be creative!
Party Favors
To ensure that everyone receives a Valentine, create cute goody bags to give to all of their children as favors. You can include Valentine’s Day candy, Conversation Hearts, plush toys, extra Valentine’s Day cookies, and Valentine’s Day stickers.
