What is Ornithine and why is it being used in beverages?
Ornithine is an amino acid that stimulates the breakdown of carbohydrates, proteins and fat—resulting in the release of stored energy. It also reduces ammonia which is harmful to the body and brain, causes fatigue, confusion, slower thinking speed and poorer memory. When combined with caffeine, Ornithine helps to reduce fatigue, increases stamina and concentration better than caffeine alone.
The folks over at ON Powered Refreshment are putting these key ingredients to work in their various fun flavored energy drinks. They’re offering flavors like blueberry lemonade, tropical citrus, dragonfruit tangerine, peach mango and raspberry limeade to keep your palate pleased and your energy levels up.
My husband has actually been using ON drinks before his bike rides to provide him with that boost of energy and stamina that he needs to complete his long rides. He enjoys the flavor and seems to like how ON works – more so than his other energy drinks.
Being pregnant, I, of course, can’t have ON right now but I have tried the various flavors and they are so much tastier than some of the other energy drinks on the market. I am not a fan of energy drinks but I am a fan of caffeine.
