Challenge: What do you do when your child refuses to eat vegetables?
The answer to this question will be different for all of us, but for me, my first reaction is to figure out how I can make vegetables more fun and less scary or gross looking. For my three-year old daughter, I’ve found that 99% of the time she’s likely to eat her food if I allow her to help or fully make it herself. I let her make her own sandwiches for lunch and ask for her help at dinnertime. She loves it and I love the bonding experience.
Disclosure: I received a sampler pack from VeggiePOPS in exchange for blog coverage. Any opinion expressed in this article is based on my experience with the product.
A mother of four, Cynthia Wylie, learned something similar with her kids when it came to vegetables. They were more likely to eat them if they had grown them themselves. And along came VeggiePOPS! Cynthia’s brightly colored VeggiePOPS instantly motivate kids to plant vegetable seeds in the easiest way possible – with a lollipop. Just plant it in soil, add water and watch it grow!
I think this is the coolest idea ever! It’s so unique and (hopefully) effective for my daughter. What a great way to get kids involved with gardening on a “kid” level.
The Bloomer’s Island webpage (www.bloomersisland.com), home of the VeggiePOPS provides easy instructions for each type of seed. You can also find planting zone information on this site.
VeggiePOPS! can grow indoors or outdoors. Sprouts in 3 – 7 days. Made of a secret patent pending formula including worm castings, fertilizer and recycled paper pulp that nourishes the seeds as they grow. Non-toxic, food safe, non-GMO seeds. Guarantee to sprout or your money-back. Ages 3+
My daughter and I will be planting our seeds near the Fall and can’t wait to see what comes up. We will be sure to post some photos on this blog post once we harvest our veggies.
