It’s very easy to remember to apply sunscreen before going out into the sun. It’s not so easy to remember to reapply after being in the sun for a stretch of time. So many of us wonder how we got burned when we applied sunscreen before swimming or just being out in the hot sun. Rarely do we even bother to read the reapply time on the sunscreen bottles. Looking through my stash of sunscreens, from SPF 15 to 55, I am noticing that the reapply times vary from 30 to 90 minutes, depending on in water usage or not. This was really shorter than I envisioned – I usually don’t reapply for several hours…eeek!

Now there is a solution to the problem! JADS Inernational has produce a bracelet called Sunscreen Bands. The way Sunscreen Bands work is:
1. First liberally apply sunscreen (SPF 15 or highter) to your exposed skin.
2. Place a Sunscreen Bands bracelet on, print side up.
3. Expose band to direct sunlight until dark purple.
4. Apply sunscreen to Sunscreen Bands and let dry 15 minutes.

When Sunscreen Bands change to a light purple color, it’s time to reapply sunscreen to yourself and the sun bands – easy as that! When Sunscreen Bands turn a cream color they are no longer active and t’s time to get out of the sun! If your brand of sunscreen advises reapplying before the band turns light purple, please do so!
