Beginning June 16, PBS KIDS and WGBH will be airing three all-new episodes of MARTHA SPEAKS during “Martha Speaketh Weeketh!” During Martha Speaketh Weeketh, fans can watch their favorite canine linguist speaking in questions, in Polish, and even Elizabethan English. The fun continues online with the brand new game, Martha’s Steaks. Children learn vocabulary as they make Martha’s furry friends hurdle, dash, soar, and tumble to catch treats through Martha’s dream-landscape of steaks, bacon, and drumsticks!
My daughter and I had the pleasure of viewing these new episodes and they are super cute and refreshing. Martha Speaks has been one of my daughter’s favorite PBS cartoons because of the simple fact that there is a talking dog, Martha. What I love about Martha Speaks is that each episode is crammed with learning tools like vocabulary, life lessons and kindness. I also love that there is no defiant, bad behavior in the episodes.
Martha, her family and friends teach their audience great lessons and lots of great words. Following each episode they do a recap of the special words they used during the show and help explain the meanings. Believe it or not, my (almost) three-year old actually retains most of the words and their meanings and even says them out loud.
