D-Link just took the idea of baby monitors to a whole new level with their newest Wi-Fi Baby Camera (DCS-825L). This versatile wireless HD camera transforms your smartphone or tablet into a mobile baby monitor after just a few simple steps. The Wi-Fi baby camera allows you to wirelessly connect directly to the camera without the need for a separate wireless network, allowing you to access your camera from virtually anywhere you have an Internet connection. So go ahead, use it to spy on the baby sitter, the pets or use it like a normal baby monitor.
The D-Link Wi-Fi baby camera is equipped with an array of features such as motion and sound detection, temperature monitoring, night vision, lullabies and snapshots recording directly to your phone. This camera is designed to help you monitor and keep an eye on things around the house. Pretty cool, right?
You control almost all of the features of the Wi-Fi baby camera from your free mobile app. No service fees required. You can also control the lullabies, volume and power manually from the camera.
Key Features:
Day and Night Vision – See up to 16 feet in total darkness
Sound Detection – Automatically sends you notifications when your baby is crying.
Motion Detection – Alerts you when motion is detected.
Temperature Alerts – Notifies you if the room becomes too hot or cold.
Two Way Audio – Lets you hear your baby and allows you to respond to calm him/her.

mydlink Baby App
The free mydlink Baby App for iPhone, iPad and Android mobile devices not only guides you step-by-step through the setup process, but also gives you an easy to use interface for all the advanced features of the Wi-Fi Baby Camera. I actually downloaded an app that was $1.99 thinking it was the correct dlink app and then I ended up finding the free app, which is the correct one to use. Once I downloaded the app I followed the simple instructions to connect my camera to my wi-fi and I was up and running in less than ten minutes.
Once you’re up and running, open the mydlink Baby App and go to Live View. The first time you access your Wi-Fi Baby Camera Live View you will get a reminder to adjust the focus on the camera. For some reason it took me a while to get the focus just right but I think I finally have it where I like it.
Now, after hearing recent reports of creepers hacking into baby monitors, security is my #1 priority with a Wi-Fi Baby Camera. I advise that you make sure you turn on the security features during the installation process. Follow the instructions, make sure you set up a strong password at least eight characters long with a mix of upper and lower case letters and numbers. If you are connecting remotely, always make sure you connect your Wi-Fi Baby Camera to a password secured network.
When you purchase the D-Link Wi-Fi Baby Camera, you will get both the pink and the blue pieces so you can mix and match or keep it one solid color. I am using the pink camera details on my D-Link right now because it matches my daughters room. I think this is an awesome feature, especially if you are buying it as a gift.
Availability and Pricing

Is this product worth purchasing?
So far, I haven’t run into any major problems with my D-Link Wi-Fi Baby Camera besides the occasional syncing issues. You do have to keep the app open in order for it to work which runs down your phone battery a little quicker but since I keep my phone plugged in at night this never seems to be a problem. I like the idea of being able to check on the dog using the D-Link camera which makes it more valuable than a regular baby monitor. I definitely think this is a product worth purchasing for yourself or as a gift for someone. You might be able to use your Target RedCard to get a 5% discount plus free shipping at Target.com, too.
