The Be Good Fairy by Missy Wallen-Nichols

I’m all about rewarding my daughter in exchange for good behavior. Some may call it bribing but I typically don’t tell her “if she does this I will give her this.” Instead, I surprise her with a toy at the store or something of that nature. I recently got my hands on this awesome children’s book called The Be Good Fairy by Missy Wallen-Nichols that teaches children that good behavior is sometimes rewarded and bad behavior is not.
The Be Good Fairy is a wonderful tool to help parents enforce positive discipline and motivate independent behavior in young children. The stories in the book inspire children to behave, work hard and reach goals in order to receive a visit from the “Be Good Fairy” who will reward them with a special gift for their achievement. The book brings to life a creative and magical way for parents to reward children for:
Good Behavior – taking turns and sharing, obeying bed time, cleaning their room.
Achieving Milestones in Independence – potty training and taking baths/showers on their own.
Academic Achievement – getting good grades, maintaining perfect attendance, making honors role.
The Be Good Fairy has four stories of little boys and girls that did good and bad. The children in these stories get to hang the “I’ve Been Good” door hanger (included in each book) when they’ve demonstrated good behavior in hopes that the Be Good Fairy would bring them a surprise. My favorite lesson of the four is the story of Addison, a little boy that tried to lie about his bad behavior and hung the door hanger anyways. Since the Be Good Fairy sees and knows all, she never made a stop at his house which taught him a very good lesson about lying.
I can’t forget the cute and colorful illustrations by Ben Ballard in The Be Good Fairy. The illustrations help children understand each story a little better and are especially helpful for the little ones.

There are a few different purchasing options for The Be Good Fairy. You can purchase the hardcover book by itself for $19.99 or the eCopy for $2.99 (also available in Spanish). I do a lot of verbal praise when my daughter does well. I have also taken her for ice cream a couple of times, but I haven't done that in a while due to now having a small baby!

we do lots of extra time for fun when we are good. If we are having bad behavior days then there isn't time to have fun as there are chores that need to be completed
