As pet owners, we try to feed our pets food that is healthy for them. We have to deal with skin allergies with our dog and we have tried so many canned dog foods, none of which have really eliminated the allergies. We have been through almost all the pricey brands like Science Diet, Iams, Nutro, Blue and all the others. We have also tried all the different meat varieties such as lamb, chicken, beef, turkey, etc. There are so many other additives in canned food, you really can’t distinguish how much meat is actually in a can versus fillers.

We recently became aware of a brand called Freshpet which is neither canned nor dry dog food. Freshpet is made with natural fresh ingredients like meat, eggs, vegetables and grains. Freshpet also contains no preservatives or fillers. Freshpet foods are cooked at low temperatures and then chilled for freshness in the fridge until served. Freshpet also carries a grain free food that is 80% poultry or fish in their Nature’s Fresh line. Freshpet food comes in a roll, similar to a chub of hamburger, and needs no preparation before serving. The Freshpet Select rolls contain 9 ounces of chicken, turkey or beef, 2 ounces of liver, 1 ounce of egg, 2 ounces of veggies and 1 ounce of brown rice per pound, along with 18 vitamins and minerals.
Freshpet also carries various types of treats for your dog, including Dognation ready to bake peanut butter and oatmeal cookies. Our dog flipped over these cookies! Definitely his favorite! I have never seen a dog treat disappear so fast!
