Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday and National Read Across America day, I thought it would be nice to put together a little gift basket for the local library filled with goodies for kids. Each week we have story time at our library where the librarian reads a handful of books to the kids and then lets the kids play or do an activity. This is a safe, fun place for kids to interact with each other and learn and it’s absolutely free. I put together a gift basket full of Dr. Seuss products from Oriental Trading along with a Dr. Seuss card from Hallmark and gave it to the librarian to hand out to the kids. She was thrilled to receive the gift and the kids were even happier to receive their goodies.
In my Dr. Seuss basket I included pencils, bookmarks, little books and notepads. Oriental trading has so many Dr. Seuss products to choose from. You can find products for teaching, products for playing and products for gifting and even party supplies. I couldn’t help but get my daughter some fun Dr. Seuss number and word posters while I was shopping for my gift basket goodies. How can you not love learning from Dr. Seuss? He makes learning so much fun!
For the adult Dr. Seuss lovers, check out the products that Hallmark has to offer. From cards to note pads to sticky notes and beyond, Hallmark has the chicest Dr. Seuss products around at great prices.
National Read Across America Day – What is it?
Read Across America Day promotes reading, particularly for children and young adults. Many schools, libraries, and community centers across the United States participate in the day by bringing people together to take part in reading books. Various reading activities and events are held across the country on this day. For example, some students take part in a Read Across America channel designed to showcase student and educator videos around the country. Others make reading pledges, organize book fairs, or read aloud to groups of people.
Challenge: Go through your child’s old books and donate them to your local library!
