A recent survey revealed an overwhelming 78% of women
would be more than happy receiving Botox as a Valentine’s Day gift from their
partners! From this same survey, 15% of women said they would be mildly
pleased, but a bit concerned, and only 7% said they would be downright
offended.

Botox works by temporarily
(approximately 6 months) relaxing the muscles in your face, allowing for a
smoother, more refreshed look. Botox utilizes a neuromuscular blocking toxin (botulinum
toxin A) that is injected directly into the muscle to improve the
appearance of wrinkles. This should be done by a board certified plastic surgeon for best results and to avoid any possible complications.

Many Botox first timers worry about
migration. In other words, the Botox moving to an unwelcomed part of the face.
For the most part the rumors that cause these concerns are untrue. A deep
tissue massage or lying flat on your face directly after a Botox injection
should be avoided for about two hours post injection. Normal activities such as
washing the face or applying lotion are perfectly fine and will not affect your
results.

Alternatively, Botox can be injected in the forehead to
relieve tension headaches and migraines. It is also used to treat hyperhidrosis
(excessive sweating) by being injected into the auxiliary glands and or palms.
Recently the FDA approved Botox for treating incontinence of people with
multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injuries. Originally Botox was developed in
the 1960’s and was injected to correct crossed eyes and uncontrollable
blinking.

I'm 25, so at this point in my life I would be down- right worried if I received Botox as a gift, not sure how I would feel in the future though, might be something I would want to try for free….
