Just one more thing… Is this a common phrase that comes out of your child’s mouth at night? I’ve heard it all from “I need a drink” to “close the closet” to “I need my stuffed animals” come from my daughter before bedtime. We typically don’t give in to her requests and demands before bedtime as most of the time they are just diversions from sleep. Apparently we aren’t the only ones who go through the “one more thing” problems. I was recently sent an adorable rhyming children’s book called One More Thing that tackles these very challenges of bedtime.
Written by S. Jane Scheyder and illustrated by Jacob Scheyder, One More Thing takes you to the home of Thomas Henry and his plush friends as they each need just One More Thing before bedtime. I love how Thomas’ mom responds to each of his requests by simplifying the solutions to his problems. This is somewhat how my husband and I are with our daughter. For example, when Thomas decides his stuffed monkey needs a snack and insists that he makes him a banana pie, his mom explains that he just needs a little bite of banana for the night.
The wording and illustrations in One More Thing are easy to follow and perfect for my daughter. The phrases are short and sweet and have a swing to them which is why I love it so much. One More Thing has made our list of Wish List Must-Haves for 2013 both for the price and content.
Head over to Amazon.com to purchase One More Thing for $6.36! What a great price. (+get free shipping if you have Amazon Prime) You can also get the Kindle version for just $2.99!
