I happen to be a person who has a hard time throwing away containers of any type. If they can be reused, I try to save them. These containers can be anything from a mayonnaise jar, cookie dough tub, mason jars and even coffee creamer bottles. Yes, my family calls me a hoarder, but eventually I might find some other use for these containers, right?
I do sometimes find craft projects for my “reusables,” but most are complicated and have way too many pieces to put together or supplies to purchase. I was really excited to be able to review a book called “InstaCraft” by Alison Caporino, published by Ulysses Press. Her work has been featured in Harper’s Bizarre, Allure, Reader’s Digest and Everyday with Rachel Ray. She has put together a book that features easy to put together crafts that are made with things most people have available in their homes. If you have glue, paper clips, bobby pins, bricks, paint, nail polish, computer printer, etc., you can make tons of projects from her InstaCraft book. Believe me, these are projects even I can do, and now I have a use for those 15 coffee creamer bottles!

I think InstaCraft would be a huge hit with all those homeschooling moms out there. Knowing a few of these moms myself, I know they are always looking for easy arts and crafts projects to fulfill that area of teaching. The instructions for these crafting ideas are so easy to understand and there are projects for children of just about any age.
Another thing I liked about InstaCraft are that some of the crafts would make excellent and inexpensive teacher gifts, i.e. the stocking flowerpot with a plant or the trinket key tags on a cute tea cup filled with teabags. A personal homemade gift always means more!
InstaCraft is available at Amazon or at Barnes and Noble stores.

I try to make time several times during the week to work on my latest crafting ~ Zentangle. I try to tangle a little every night. Throughout this winter I crocheted quite a bit as I made scarves for our local homeless shelter. Making the scarves helped pass the time overnight too when I volunteered there. I came to really enjoy and appreciate this "me" time I created. I understand the importance of it as I have found it calms me.
