Pearl Harbor and USS Missouri Tour
Written by: Patty
We caught our Robert’s Tours bus to Pearl Harbor. As per usual, our tour guide is right on time and gives us lots of information about everything we pass in Honolulu. Once we arrive at Pearl Harbor, we have to go and check our backpacks in as you are not allowed to carry anything in, except wallets and a camera.
We go into the auditorium to watch the video on the attack on Pearl Harbor and then we exit to board the shuttle boat over to the Arizona Memorial. Unfortunately, it started raining while we were in the movie and we got soaked riding over. Nonetheless, it’s a very moving tour and you can’t help but get a tear in your eye when you are standing on top of that ship knowing that there are still men entombed inside.
After the Arizona tour, we take the bus over the USS Missouri for a tour of the ship where the treaty was signed to end World War II. Had a fantastic guide on that tour who told us many of the details of that day that you would not otherwise know. My husband loved going inside and exploring the ship. Now we get back onto the bus and go back across the bridge to retrieve our backpacks, etc. and head off for the rest of the tour. This next part got kind of long, going through the Punchbowl cemetery, seeing the old governor’s palace, etc., but now we can say we saw them…
