booked through Costco Travel
We booked our hotel through Costco. They arrange for airport to hotel shuttles for you with their packages and I must say, the woman who picked us up at that hour of the morning was wonderful and had beautiful flower leis for us! She was awesome! She whipped us right through the airport and luggage area to our awaiting shuttle bus to the airport. Our shuttle was through Robert’s Tours and even at this time of night (or morning rather) our driver gave us a full description of everything along the way!
We finally arrive at our hotel, the Aston Waikiki Beach, and get through check-in fairly quickly and get to our room on the 23rd floor. The hotel is an older hotel, but right across the street from Waikiki Beach and right next to the Honolulu Zoo, so a good location.
The room is comfortable, clean and cutely decorated. We fall into bed and start hearing a loud howling noise… It turns out the back of the hotel is open and the wind comes whipping under your door and out through the top of the sliding glass door where there is a gap between the 2 doors because of the age of the doors. Then we start hearing the backup beeps of delivery trucks at the hotel across the street. This went on all night long. Needless to say, not a good nights’ sleep, but we did manage to get a few hours in.
After a few hours of sleep, we get up with plans to explore Honolulu and relax before getting on the NCL Pride of America Cruise on Saturday.
Now that we have daylight, and a huge, beautiful, complete rainbow outside our balcony window, we meander down to the complimentary breakfast the hotel provides poolside every morning. When you check into your room, you find a small collapsible ice chest that you take down and fill up with breakfast goodies and you can eat poolside while listening to the singer and watching the beautiful hula girl dance or take your food back to the room or even eat on the beach. It was a little drizzly this morning, so we took our food back to the room to eat.
We really liked the food. There was hot Miso soup and rice, which my husband absolutely loved! They have a huge variety of ready to take foods, including cereals, yogurt, really good doughnuts, fresh fruit, juices, great coffees, and if you want to pay extra even made to order omelets. We went up, ate and then set out to explore the Waikiki Beach area.
