Why we will never use Allegiant Airlines to fly to Honolulu…
We decided to leave from a small local airport in Stockton, California using Allegiant Airlines because of the airport being only 15 minutes from home and the flight being a reasonable price. Mistake #1!
After arriving the requested hour prior to departure, went through the check-in process, security, plane loading, etc., just to be told that we can’t leave and will have to disembark the plane because the preflight mechanic never showed up. The pilot actually sounded a little bit embarrassed to even have to tell us this. We were told that we would be given food vouchers and that it would be 2 hours until the mechanic shows up. Well, after waiting for over an hour for a food voucher (of a whopping $8.00!), we finally got some dinner at the only restaurant in the airport. Not great food, to say the least.
After another 2-1/2 hours of sitting around the airport, we finally get to get on the plane at about 9:00 p.m. This has to be the smallest, tightest plane we have ever been on! Very nice flight attendants and crew, but horrible plane. The plane was so small that the seats do not even recline so you can sleep. Next time we will use Hawaiian or Alaskan Air and go through Sacramento Airport.
So, after a 5-1/2 hour flight we finally arrive in Honolulu at about 2:00 a.m. (we were supposed to arrive at 10:55).
