Delsey reveals tips for destination brides and honeymooners!
Delsey, creator of feature-rich luggage, is gearing up for wedding season, offering packing tips and tricks for destination brides and honeymooners. With over 65 years experience designing luggage for any occasion, Delsey is offering the latest packing advice to ensure brides and grooms can get hitched, without a hitch!
Rule 1 – Last item in, first item out
To preserve formal attire as much as possible, follow the last item in, first item out rule. This means make sure dresses, the veil, suits, and any other delicates are the last items packed prior to departure and the first items unpacked upon arrival.
Rule 2 – Use a garment bag
Garment bags are the way to go when transporting a wedding dress, tuxedo, or any other delicate dress clothing. Garment bags protect clothing during travel and minimize wrinkles, as items hang or lay flat as much as possible. Exterior hooks allow the bag to be hung upright while interior clamps permit travelers to attach
clothing hangers firmly and easily.
Rule 3 – White tissue paper
Using tissue paper – and lots of it – is the best way to preserve wedding dresses while traveling. First, line the interior of the dress with paper; this will eliminate the fabric on fabric friction that may cause wear. Line each fold in a full skirt or long train with several layers of tissue to avoid heavy creasing. If the dress is white, use white paper! And if the dress is colored, go with the same color as the dress, to ensure the paper does not rub off and stain precious items.
Rule 4 – Carry-on please!
Don’t check important bags. Most airlines are quite accommodating when it comes to weddings and wedding parties – especially if the destination wedding involves a group of 20 or more traveling on the same airline! Put that bargaining power to good use, and gently persuade air hosts to allow garment bags onboard.
Most planes have a special coat closet near the first class section, and if there is room, that would be an excellent place to store your bag. Otherwise, making friends with onboard neighbors and finding some room in the carry-on compartment works as well.
Do remember to take garment bags off the plane! With so much excitement in the air it can be easy to forget items onboard, particularly if these items are not stored directly above the seat. Ask air hosts and co-travelers to give a gentle reminder upon arrival, or set an alarm on a mobile phone schedules to go off at arrival, to ensure the
wedding party leaves the plane with everything brought onboard.
Rule 5 – Hard-side bags for protection and style
Brides spend so much time ensuring every detail of their wedding is flawless, why not extend that level of commitment to traveling in style? Hard-side suitcases come in an attractive array of colors, deep metallic glossy finishes and textured exteriors, perfect to coordinate to a wedding party or add a pop of color to an enroute ensemble.
Delsey offers a wide variety of stylish, lightweight, durable hard-side cases designed to accompany the most selective brides and grooms. With spinner wheels for easy movement, an integrated 3 dial TSA accepted combination lock, and two inches of expandable space, the Delsey collections satisfy even the most exigent Bridezilla. Delsey Helium Colours carry-on offers a two-point closure system for water and dust resistance while bringing bright, lively colour to any trip. Best of all, the quality collections provide an added level of protection so fragile items arrive in tact.
