Southern Californians have Vegas, and us Northern Californians have Reno – “The biggest little city in the world!”
I have to admit, when planning a family vacation close to home, Reno hasn’t really popped up a whole lot in our discussions. We are only about 2.5 hours away, too. Theme parks and the beach have come to mind for family vacations, but I feel like a lot of us that live in Northern California forget about Reno as a family-friendly vacation destination. Reno has come a long way over the years and is much more modern and chic than it used to be. You’ll still find your brightly colored casinos and resorts (one of my favorite things about this city), but you will also find newer restaurants, coffee shops, lounges, shopping, etc. They also offer lots of great entertainment options throughout the year.
Atlantis Casino Resort Spa
The AAA Four Diamond/Forbes Travel Guide recommended Atlantis Casino Resort Spa has lots to offer under one roof for the entire family. Plus, a stay at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa won’t cost a whole lot. This resort features 8 award-winning restaurants, a 4-star spa complete with a salon and gym, a 60,000 sq ft. casino, a modern and fully loaded fun center for the kids and a fabulous pool.
Fun Center
From classic arcade games to a huge selection of modern games including Jet Buzz 360, a 7-D ride and game in one, the Fun Center at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa is great for kids and adults alike. Don’t forget to join Club Underground for Fun Center arcade perks.
Spa Atlantis
Whether you’re looking for a couple’s retreat or a mother/daughter spa day, Spa Atlantis will hook you up. They have an impressive menu of spa and salon services including a Hamman wet table, which I would love to try some day. They have a year-round outdoor whirlpool, in indoor atrium pool for the cooler months, as well as an entire outdoor pool and sun deck for the warmer months.
Dining
We all know dining with kids on vacation can become quite an event. That’s why choosing restaurants that are kid-friendly, yet great tasting and budget-friendly are ideal. The Atlantis Casino Resort Spa features 8 award-winning restaurants including a buffet and grille, a deli, a bistro, a steakhouse, a cafe, a sushi bar, oyster bar, a hot dog eatery and more! Plan a long weekend stay and experience all of their delicious dining options.
Accommodations
There are quite a lot of different room options at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, but all of them are relaxing, comfortable and modern. You can also choose between one king bed or two queen beds in some of the rooms. I recommend the Atlantis Tower room with two queen beds for a family of four. These rooms are non-smoking and have a beautiful mountain view through the floor-to-ceiling windows. They also have premium hotel wi-fi, complimentary airport shuttle, 42″ flat screens with over 45 HD channels, an iHome clock radio with iPod docking station, a digital safe, delicious Rainforest Alliance Certified in-room coffee, June Jacobs bath and body products, and 24-hour room service.
Casino
Of course, I can’t mention Reno without talking about the Casinos. Atlantis Casino Resort Spa has quite the impressive casino floor with the hottest games, game tables, video poker, Race and Sports Book, progressive jackpots and keno. I personally enjoy hanging out in the non-smoking room which has really great games. Keep an eye out for their upcoming events, too!
The Atlantis Casino Resort Spa is known for its luxurious accommodations, award-winning dining, dynamic casino scene, great spa, salon and gym, as well as their many offerings for kids. If you are planning a family trip this year, you should definitely consider staying at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa and experience Reno with your kids!
