My four-year old LOVES Peppa Pig. She loves her so much that she ends up speaking with an Enlglish accent and says things like “okay, mummy pig” or “yes, datty pig.” Who could blame her, though? It is a really cute cartoon.
I recently learned that there was a whole collection of Peppa Pig books from Candlewick Press, one of our favorite children’s book publishers. Candlewick Press offers the following Peppa Pig books:
… and they just launched their newest title in the collection, Peppa Pig and the Day at the Museum.
Peppa Pig and the Day at the Museum is the perfect choice not only for Peppa fans, but for younger children planning their first museum outing or looking for a great way to remember their museum visit. There’s even a coloring sheet included inside the dust jacket to accompany the story for extra fun at home.
Peppa and her little brother George are very excited when Mummy and Daddy Pig tell them they’re going to spend the day at the museum. Peppa isn’t quite sure what a museum is, but when she finds out that it’s full of fascinating objects even older than Daddy Pig she knows that a great day of discovery lies ahead!
Peppa can’t wait to get into the King’s and Queen’s room, full of jewels and fabulous robes and gowns. When she spots a royal crown Peppa imagines what it would be like to be Queen Peppa –there would be cake every day by royal decree! Next up is what George has been waiting for – the dinosaur room! But when they get there everything seems very BIG (and a little bit scary). Mummy and Daddy Pig explain that although the dinosaurs are huge, they’re just old bones and George soon realizes that there’s nothing to be afraid of. After all the excitement, the whole family (especially Daddy Pig!) is ready for a quick visit to the museum cafe for tea and cake before exploring the last exhibit – the Space Tour!
Inside the pretend spaceship Peppa and George get ready for blast off as they learn all about planets and gravity. They even manage to track down a piece of moon cheese for Daddy Pig! What a great day at the museum! Peppa’s favorite part was the crown and George loved the dinosaurs most of all. As for Daddy Pig – the part he liked best was the cake and the moon cheese, of course!
As a family, we travel quite a bit. One of our favorite things to do is sit and reminisce about our favorite details of each trip, just like Peppa’s family does in this book.
You can learn more about Peppa Pig by visiting www.peppapig.com. I’ve added this book to my Amazon book list here: http://astore.amazon.com/thenaptimrev-20 where you can find it for only $6.96.
