Blue Lizard Australian Sunscreen
Before you click away thinking this is just another post about the importance of sunscreen, wait just a minute. It’s constantly shoved down our throats that sunscreen is important to use daily to prevent skin damage and each brand will tell you they’re better than the last. However, just because a brand of sunscreen works for someone else, doesn’t mean it will work well for you, your lifestyle or your skincare needs.
Sure, you can go to your local store and grab the cheapest tube of store brand sunscreen on the shelf if you’re looking to save a buck, but what if you get home to find that the product is horrible? Do you continue using it and just deal with the side effects? Do you risk looking like a lobster on your next family vacation because you didn’t use sunscreen at all? Or do you toss it in the drawer of products that you’re hanging on to for who knows what reason and buy the better brand of sunscreen, having now wasted double the amount of money? (We all have that drawer. Don’t worry)
Rather than wasting your money on junky products, I always suggest doing your research before you buy. This is the purpose of this article. I want to help make you aware that not all products are created equally and you should be aware of the ingredients being used in them.
I was introduced to the Blue Lizard Australian Sunscreen brand last month and was sent some of their products to test out. My family is big on sunscreen usage so we couldn’t wait to try the Blue Lizard lineup of products. Upon receiving the package of products, we immediately did the “light test.”
The Blue Lizard products are equipped with a color changing cap or bottle to indicate when it’s being exposed to UV light. These color changing packages serve as a great reminder to apply sunscreen (as long as you have the bottles out in plain sight). You can see in the images above that when the bottles are indoors, the bottle and caps are white and when they move outdoors they turn blue.
After thorough testing, my husband and I really like these products. I personally like the Face formula and use it as a moisturizer under my makeup. It’s not greasy and doesn’t go on too thick. My husband uses the Sport formula during work and cycling because it’s water resistant and stays on better than other brands he’s tried. The sensitive formula is great for those with sensitive skin (like myself) and is also great for kids ages 6+ months.
All Blue Lizard full spectrum sunscreen products have an SPF of 30+ and contain at least 6% Zinc Oxide. Baby and Sensitive contain only mineral/physical active ingredients Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide. These are also paraben-free and fragrance-free. Regular and Sport contain a combination of active protectants; chemical absorbers and physical blockers. Plus, these formulations provide water-resistant protection for 80 minutes based on the FDA testing method. Face is a gel formulation that contains antioxidant ingredients: green tea, caffeine and vitamin E. This formula is paraben-free and fragrance free.
