French born author Sonia Colasse has created a charming series of 12 bilingual children’s books entitled, The Adventures of Enzo. The books follow Enzo, an imaginative little boy who sets off to discover new surroundings and make friends with each character of the zodiac under the watchful eye of his very own lucky star. Unfortunately for Enzo, his lucky star can’t always get him out of his wrong doings.
Colasse, mother of four, was inspired to write the collection after moving with her family from France to California where she had her youngest son, Enzo. Drawing from personal experiences, the tales revolve around the 12 signs of the zodiac and also follow the seasons of the year, each ending with a unique summarization that educates the reader on life’s simple values including respect, forgiveness, patience and sharing. Through the excitement of the story, children will discover a new language, giving them the tools they will need to communicate more effectively in a multicultural society.
“The ability to speak more than one language is a true richness in our society,” remarks Colasse. “As bilingual speakers, our children will discover a whole other world, a wealth of knowledge that will enable them to be at home on our planet. These books not only allow children to learn a new language more smoothly, but also remind the readers about what is important in life.”
The series is targeted for kids aged three to seven, who will delight in the vivid and colorful illustrations created by London artist Sarah Bainton. Published by Solo Infinity Inc., The Adventures of Enzo books are available in French/English, French/Spanish, French/Italian, French/German, French/Dutch, French/Portuguese and French/Chinese versions.
Celebrity children who own The Adventures of Enzo books include one-year-old Tennessee James Toth, son to Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth, eight-year-old Sean Preston Federline, son to Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, and four-year-old Charlotte Grace Prinze, daughter of Freddie Prinze, Jr., and Sarah Michelle Gellar.
The Adventures of Enzo are the perfect gift for any child, not only to help them become bi-lingual and to teach them values and morals, but also to teach them about the zodiac signs, even starting with their own! The book that I received, ‘Enzo Does Something Wrong’ is based on the Libra zodiac (the scale). I love how the author incorporates the zodiac symbols into her stories without making it obvious or confusing for kids.
The author is currently living the story of her dreams in Santa Barbara, California, with her husband Laurent and four children, who have all been actively involved in the project. Colasse is currently working on children’s songs to accompany the books and is actively working on a new, zoo-themed Enzo series. She has also recently partnered with la Fondation Maison de Louis Pasteur and le futur Etablissement public de coopération culturel Terre de Louis Pasteur to write an adventure story about famed French chemist and microbiologist Louis Pasteur.
